Program offered Wednesdays and Fridays, five hours each day. On Friday, members of the Respite Cooperative (family caregivers of Respite participants) lead a variety of program activities including exercises, games and singing. Lunch is offered.

(Caring, Laughing, Understanding, Belonging). The C.L.U.B. meets at the church in Rancho Cordova on Mondays and Tuesdays. The program’s purpose is to give respite to caregivers and socialization and loving care to care receivers (program participants). Some participants are not able to talk, read, write or walk without assistance. All are encouraged to participate in program activities at levels with which they are comfortable. A donation of $10 a day helps cover the cost of a hot, nutritious lunch and activities.

Crisis Line: (800) 231-4024 Joan Parks, Program Administrator The Elder Abuse Prevention Project provides training for paid workers in Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE’s) including instructions on how to complete mandated elder abuse reports of suspected abuse. State 24 Hour Crisis Line: (800) 231-4024 The Ombudsman Program provides information and complaint resolution for residents of long term care facilities in the seven counties of Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Sierra, Yolo, Yuba and Sutter. In addition to paid staff, the ombudsman program recruits and trains an average of 65 volunteers who complete extensive training and volunteer at least 20 hours per month assisting residents in long term care facilities. Ombudsmen are trained to receive and investigate reports of suspected abuse.

Two staff persons act as Job Developers in the Senior Employment Program, as well as providing Job-Readiness workshops which teach Application, Résumé and Interview techniques. Through individual appointments and through community education, volunteer counselors who are trained and registered provide objective information on Medicare, Medicare supplemental insurance, managed care, long-term care planning and health insurance. The HSNC office provides HICAP services in El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Sierra, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba Counties.

Catholic Charities will collaborate with the SRO collaborative Project of Transitional Living and Community Support, Inc. (TLCS) and has formed the Downtown Senior Outreach Program. The program will provide comprehensive assessment, case management and falls prevention assessment services to seniors 60 years of age and older. The targeted populations are seniors who live alone in the 14 single-room occupancy hotels in downtown Sacramento.
