HOME MODIFICATION & SAFETY
Live Strong and Safe: Falls Prevention

Falls and other injuries in the home can be reduced by making Minor Home Modifications.  And, a simple home safety assessment can help individuals find and fix those hazards in the home.

   RISK OF FALLS in the home:

  • Low lighting
  • Unsafe stairs and rails
  • Rug/carpet hazards
  • Low beds and toilets
  • No grab bars, especially in the bathroom
  • Slick Floors
  • Obstacles and clutter


   TYPES OF DEVICES often used to increase safety and minimize         fall risk in the home:

  • Grab bars and railings
  • Toilet risers
  • Shower seats & hoses
  • Improved lighting
  • Smoke & fire detectors
  • Ramps
  • Elimination of throw rugs
