Welcome to the Temporary Home of the NORTHERN CALIFORNIA FALLS PREVENTION COALITION
The mission of the Northern California Falls Prevention Coalition is to raise awareness, promote falls prevention, reduce injuries, and effect policy change through leadership, advocacy and education to improve the well being of older adults in Northern California.
Initially, funding for the Coalition was provided by the Archstone Foundation, and the group met quarterly. At this time, the Coalition is only convening to plan and coordinate activities in recognition of the annual Fall Prevention Awareness Week (the first week of the fall season).
In 2009, Coalition members worked with the Fall Prevention Center of Excellence to visit state legislators and garner their support for current and future efforts to improve awareness and tracking of fall data.
In 2010, the coalition co-sponsored a Fall Prevention Community Event, To Fall, or Not to Fall, in conjunction with Kaiser Permanente on September 25th.
This year (2011), the coalition members are helping to plan the 2nd Annual Fall Prevention Community Event on Saturday, September 24th. Contact Area 4 now to pre-register for this event.
