A4AA ADVISORY COUNCIL
Advisory Council Advocacy Resource Guide (2007)
Area 4 Agency on Aging is currently recruiting individuals to serve as Advisory Council Members.
Advisory Council Members serve in a voluntary capacity and shall carry out advisory functions and serves the following purposes:
- Serve as principal advocate body on behalf of senior citizens.
- Advise A4AA staff on matters relating to development and administration of the Area Plan including goals, objectives and funding recommendations
- Advise and make recommendations for appropriate action to the A4AA Governing Board on matters relating to development and administration of the Area Plan and operations conducted.
- Assist A4AA by providing support and input in ascertaining the changing needs of the elderly in member’s respective counties.
- Facilitate communication between the counties of A4AA.
Term of Membership: Appointments are for a three year term, ending on June 30.
Meetings & Time Commitment: Advisory Council meetings are held monthly, generally the third Thursday of the month and are open to the public. Meetings alternate within the seven counties of A4AA service area. Including preparation, travel time, general meetings and committee work, and other activities. An average of 8-10 hours per month is expected.
